A concert by Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski Quartet on 14 February 1998 attended by numerous guests marked the opening of the long awaited Blue Note Poznań Jazz Club. Music lovers and people searching for live interactions with art finally had a venue not only to listen to concerts of the greatest stars of jazz and related music styles, but also to spend time in an amicable atmosphere.

The Blue Note Club was established in the former location of a boiler room that for almost one hundred years provided heating for a large building of the Poznań Castle. The location turned out to be perfect for a large music club although its adjustment was a remarkable challenge and required a lot of courage.

The Club opened following necessary arrangements with the legendary Blue Note Club in New York. It has been one Poland’s rare clubs of this type that regularly host concerts of the international off-mainstream music stars.

So far, the Club has organized over 1,000 concerts of almost all Polish jazz musicians and such international stars as: Kenny Garret, Brad Mehldau, Dave Holland, Richard Galliano, Christian McBride, Kurt Elling, Ravi Coltrane, Al Foster, Dave Liebman, John Abercrombie, Eddie Henderson, Randy Brecker, Mike Stern, Dave Douglas, Scott Henderson, John Scofield, Pat Metheny, David Murray, Joey de Francesco, Billy Harper, Jack DeJohnette, E.S.T.Trio, Yellowjackets ...

The greatest events featuring the finest artists specializing in jazz and improvised music are held as part of the prestigious “Jazz Top in Blue Note” series organized in cooperation with the Poznań City authorities.
The Club has also cooperated with 'Made in Chicago', “Era Jazzu”, “Poznań Jazz Fair” festivals many times.

The Blue Note works as an “open club” and presents interesting musicians who represent other music styles, such as: blues, soul, flamenco, acid jazz, hip-hop, reggae, Celtic music, ethnic or cabaret music – it hosted performances by: Huun Huur Tu, Septeto National, Cracow Klezmer Band, Zion Train, Joe Bonamassa, Rafael Cortes and many more.

Recordings have been made for the Polish Television and the Polish Radio in the Blue Note Club. A few concerts held in the Club were recorded and published.

Multimedia presentations are held on those rare days when the Club is not a venue for any concerts – the greatest music performances of the 20th century are shown on a large screen.

The Club is located in the center of Poznań, in the basement of the Zamek Arts Center in vicinity of urban transportation facilities. There is a parking lot and a taxi stop in front of the entrance.
